Policy Coordination Committee Priorities Document - Writing Assignments

March 17, 2010 (DRAFT)

The Policy Coordination (PCC) is moving forward on development of the PCC Priorities Document, which identifies regional aquatic invasive species policy priorities, as identified (ultimately) by the PCC, other Great Lakes Panel members, and other interested parties.  As part of this process, we have developed this draft outline of policy issues to be addressed in the document. In summer 2009, several committee members and staff proposed writing assignments (including as lead, supporting drafters, and reviewers) on these policy issues based on the draft outline. A proposal now is that all lead initial drafters be PCC members, and that individuals formerly considered to lead be added to the reviewers group for each issue - those changes have been made to the summer draft in the table below. We now need some additional volunteers to be lead drafters for individual issues, as indicated in the table below.

The writing assignments for each issue in the Priorities Document are very brief. The basic format is a brief problem statement (e.g., 1-2 sentences), followed by recommendations (bulleted format) highlighting what should be accomplished. Once we have a complete draft of the document, we will send it to the full Panel, and any appropriate outside parties, for review. The goal of the committee is to complete a final draft of the document by the spring 2010 meeting.
