Future Developments/Priorities identified by the Great Lakes - St. Lawrence River states and provinces

Common themes for discussion:

1. Reviewing capabilities, roles and responsibilities for responding to spills on the Great Lakes - St. Lawrence River and connnecting channels

2. The need for training, protocols and equipment for winter and under-ice spill response

3. Shoreline mapping for critical areas

4. Developing stronger communications protocols between state, provincial and federal agencies

5. Evaluating capabilities, roles and responsibilities for releases from pipelines

6. Assessing risks chemical/hazardous materials spills and developing better capacity for response for hazardous materials spills (e.g., creation of chemical assessment teams)
